I want to share some news with you all today. It's a personal matter, but because of my role as founder and the close working relationship I have with many of you, I feel it's something I must address.
So here it is—
In recent months, I've come to the realization that I am transgender. What that means is that while I was born male, I identify—I feel—female.
I've always thought of myself as being more like a woman than a man, but it wasn't until this year that I made the leap from that to realizing I'm transgender.
Now that I know, I've begun the long and difficult process of transitioning, and have chosen the name Addison along with the pronouns she/her/hers. I kindly ask that you address me accordingly.
While my gender identity has changed, I want to assure you that my commitment to this company has not. If anything, I am more motivated now than ever before.
We recently got a new office, hired a full-time customer support specialist, started offering phone support again, launched several new features, and we have no plans of stopping anytime soon.
Over the past several weeks, as I've come out to family and friends, many have asked, "How can I help?" And my answer is simply this:
If you want to help me, help the trans community as a whole.
Educate yourself on trans issues.
Stand up for trans rights.
If you know someone who is trans, reach out and ask them how they're doing.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
Now it is with great pleasure that I sign this letter...
